Jan's Amish Bars Made with Oakshott fabrics

Jan's Amish Bars

Made with Oakshott fabrics by my friend Janette Fairer and show with kind permission.

This was a quilt for the Linus Project - simple squares which I thought looked a little drab until I put Bart on looking for a hug.

This is another Linus Project quilt made using a printed panel that was an offcut as it wasnt printed straight. I cut the patterns up and just satin stitched the edges onto a background.

This was another quilt for the Linus Project - A cheeky Bart from the "eat my shorts" captions. should bring a smile to someones face as I believe Linus struggle to get quilts for boys.

This cot quilt has been made using the elephant design from a Childs Applique Bed Quilt which appeared in copies of Popular Patchwork 1997 - all lovely designs.

I thought he looked abit lonely in the middle so put flowers in the corners and his trunk. The pieced border is made up of left-over bits from a postage stamp quilt. My neice is expecting a baby soon and if its a little girl she will end up with this - have to get cracking on another if its a boy but I'll make one anyway - into cot quilts now folks??!! Grandchildren and all - how
ones priorities change!!!

This quilt is from a book called A dozen Roses - hand appliqued and hand quilted. It took me ages as I started it, decided the background was too big, cut it down then left it for about 3 years!! Finally got back to it and finished it. Looks great on our double bed but had to round off the bottom edges so it wouldn't trail on the floor. Wouldn't do another like this so it is precious.

Always wanted to make a postage stamp quilt and this is it - a true scrappy. I did strip piece about half of it with strips 15 to 20" long and 1 1/2" wide, the other half is cut out of small scraps and I mean small scraps - takes ages to prepare all the pieces but of all the quilts I have made this is probably my favourite. I have put a border of light squares round the inner edge and sewn a button on each square - I have soooo many buttons I thought it would use a few up. The weight of the buttons gives this sofa throw a lovely weight and of course is goes with any colour way. I have lots of left over squares so they keep appearing in little projects I am doing at the moment!!!???

child's bed quilt

This cot quilt has been made using the bird design from a Childs Applique Bed Quilt which appeared in copies of Popular Patchwork 1997 - all lovely designs. As you can see the border is made up of left over 1" squares from my postage stamp quilt project but I think it works well. A couple of new babies on the way within the family so it should find a good home.

Bargello

Made this Bargello at a workshop by Jan Hassard when she came to our Group. Lovely to make, all strip pieced and utilised the left overs in a pieced border. Thank you Jan.
